1. India has been ranked third in the Global Consumer Confidence Index according to latest survey by the Nielsen.

2. Afghanistan's first and only female governor and a humanitarian worker from the Kachin minority in Myanmar, Habiba Sarabi, is among this year's recipients of the Ramon Magsaysay Award.

3. Ford Motor Company joined the Voluntary India Greenhouse Gas Reporting Programme in India on23 July 2013. Voluntary reporting enables a complete transparency in terms of the carbon dioxide emissions.

4. Former Prime Minister and senior leader of CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal is scheduled to arrive for a five-day official visit to India on Wednesday.

5. Russian pole vault queen and double Olympic champion Yelena Isinbayeva has announced that she would be retiring after her home World Athletics Championships, which would take place in Moscow in August.

6. A Mumbai court framed charges against actor Salman Khan on Wednesday, for culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the 2002 hit-and-run case, for which he may face a jail term upto 10 years.

7. Government has approved Free Trade LPG Scheme for selling five Kilogram LPG cylinders through Company Owned Retail Outlets of Oil Marketing Companies. The scheme will be launched on pilot basis in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore.

8. A four-day National Fair on Aid and Assistive Devices for Persons With Disabilities to start tomorrow in New Delhi.

9. Low-cost carrier Spice-Jets CEO Neil Mills has resigned following reported differences with the airlines promoter and Sun TV chief Kalanithi Maran.

10. Suresh Chandra Mohanty has been appointed as the new 56th President of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India for the year 2013-14 today. He replaced Rakesh Singh. Also A.S. Durga Prasad has been elected as Vice-President of the Cost Accountants Institute for the year 2013-14.

11. Wipro Chairman Azim Premji has been awarded the Asian Business Leaders Award 2013 for his “impressive business credentials” and service to society by London-based Asia House. The award will be presented at a gala ceremony in London on October.

12. India's K Jennitha Anto has won the 13th IPCA World Women's Individual Chess Championship title for the disabled players.
