1. Indian American author Jhumpa Lahiri’s "The Lowland" has been listed among 13 novels longlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2013.

2. Edward Snowden, the former NSA contractor who exposed the widest US global surveillance operations, was on 25 July 2013 awarded German Whistle blower Prize 2013 worth 3900 Dollars in absentia.

3. India and Belarus signed a protocol on 24 July 2013 to enhance trade ties during the sixth session of the Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation held in New Delhi.

4. Assam government said that would roll out Food Security scheme from November to cover about 2.25 crore people in the state.

5. President Pranab Mukherjee marked one year in office today with inaugurating a library and sports ground. He also unveiled a bronze statue of Mahatma Gandhi near the historic Durbar Hall of the President's house.

6. Chris Froome from Britain has won the 100th edition of the Tourde France. It was Britain's second successive victory in the race. Earlier in year 2012 Sir Bradley Wiggin, Froome's Team Sky colleague became the first Briton to win Tour de France.

7. India hold on to third spot in ICC T20 rankings.
