1. Bankim Chandra's birth anniversary today. Bankim Chandra Chatterjee – composer of India’s national song-Vande Mataram, was born on 27th June 1838 in Kanthalpara village (West Bengal).

2. Birth Anniversary of the music legend Rahul Dev Burman and fondly known as Pancham Da is being observed on Thursday.

3. The Rajasthan Government will provide 2 compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) free of cost to all electricity consumers of villages and BPL consumers in urban areas. This unique Mukhyamantri Bijli Bachat Lamp Yojna will be launched from today and continued till August.

4. The country's premiere media institute, Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), will launch a course in Urdu journalism to promote proficiency of journalists working in language press.
