1. HSBC has lowered India’s GDP forecast for the current financial year to 4 per cent from 5.5 per cent earlier saying economic uncertainty is likely to weigh on the growth forecast in the coming months.

2. HDFC Bank Ltd on Monday launched its rural financial literacy initiative in Koteshwar village nearhere under the aegis of the Reserve Bank of India, becoming the first bank to translate curriculum into Gujarati language.

3. Assam has emerged as role model in the health sector of the country by implementing the highest number of schemes under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said on Sunday.

4. The Hyderabad Hotshots won the inaugural edition of the Indian Badminton league (IBL) 2013 played at Sardar Patel Stadium, Mumbai by defeating Awadhe Warriors in the finals. Saina Nehwal was awarded as the player of the tournament, because of her undefeated feat in the complete tournament. 7. Delhi’s tops in per capita income in India. As per Delhi Development Report 2013, Delhi’s average per capita income stands at more than Rs 2 lakh per year in 2012-13 which makes it the highest in India.

8. Micromax becomes the number two smartphone vendor in India. Micromax continues to expand its hold in the Indian smartphone market and has now acquired 22 percent of the Indian market share in the second quarter according to the latest IDC numbers.

9. Senegal's president has removed his prime minister and replaced him with the country's justice minister Aminata Toure.

10. Pakistan- China Air Forces to begin joint air exercises today. The exercise has been code-named Shaheen-2. Shaheen-1, a similar drill between the air forces of the two countries, was conducted in Pakistan in March 2011.

11. Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways has come up with a unique in-flight child care assistance programme in its long haul flights for families who travel with their children.

12. Parliament today gave its seal of approval to the National Highways Authority of India(Amendment) Bill, 2012 with the Lok Sabha agreeing to amendments suggested by the Rajya Sabha. The Upper House had passed it on 13th of last month.

13. Tata group’s IT firm TCS today attained a market valuation of Rs 4 lakh crore, becoming the second company in Indian markets after Reliance Industries to cross this milestone.

14. India have managed to retain their third spot among T20 teams while Virat Kohli has held on to his sixth spot in the ICC rankings for Twenty 20 batsmen issued in Dubai today.

15. South Korea defeated India 4-3 in the final of the Asia Cup Hockey at Ipoh, Malaysia on 1 September 2013. With this, South Korea confirmed its place in the World Cup at The Hague.

16. Pakistan beat Malaysia 3-1 to win bronze in Asia Cup.
