1. In a landmark judgement that could cleanse Parliament and Assemblies of criminals,the Supreme Court has struck down a provision in the electoral law that protects a convicted
law maker from disqualification on the ground of pendency of appealing higher courts.
2. Noted Maestro Zubin Mehta has been named for the Tagore Award For Cultural Harmony for the year 2013 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to cultural harmony.
3. The Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy on 8 July 2013 sanctioned central financial assistance of 4.4 crore rupees for distribution of 20000 solar lanterns in the flood affected areas of Uttarakhand.
4. IMF has revised Economic outlook for India. It said, growth rate in India will be around 5.6 percent in 2013 which is down 0.2 percent.

DRDA is the body which looks after implementation of anti-poverty programmes of Rural Development Ministry.
