1. The BJP has declared the Gujarat Chief Minister Narender Modi as Chairman ofthe BJP Election Campaign Committee for 2014 general elections today . The announcement was made by the Party President Rajnath Singh in his address to the concluding session of the Party’s National Executive meet in Panaji, Goa after the two daylong meeting which ended today evening. Senior party leader L K Advani stayed away from the meet, citingill health. Modi later tweeted that he had spoken to L K Advani whogave him his blessings.

2. India’s little known badminton newstar K Srikanth (13 th seeded) won his maiden men’s singles title with a stunning straight-game victory over world number eight and top-seeded local favourite Boonsak Ponsana at the Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold inBangkok today. He defeated Ponsana 21-16 21-12 in a 34-minute match to script the biggest win of his career.
Srikanth had previously reached the quarter-finals of the Asian Junior Championships and entered the pre-quarter finals of the World Junior Championships in 2011.

3. Rafael Nadal won the frech open men’s single title today by defeating David Ferrer 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 in the French Open final today . With this win, he became the first man to win eighttitles at the same Grand Slam event. It was Nadal’s 12th Grand Slam titles, which move him into atie for third place with Roy Emerson behind Roger Federer’s 17 and Pete Sampras’ 14.

4 . Top-ranked American twins Bob and Mike Bryan won French Open Men’s doubles title by defeating French pair Michael Llodra and Nicolas Mahut by 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 yesterday . This is their record 14th major doubles title.
